W32.Gaobot.CII is a network-aware worm that has back door capabilities and can be controlled through IRC channels. It attempts to lower security settings by blocking access to security-related Web sites and terminating processes. It spreads by exploiting vulnerabilities.
How can you remove this stupid worm?
1. Disable System Restore (Windows Me/XP).
2. Delete the entries that were added to the hosts file.
3. Update the virus definitions.
4. Restart the computer in Safe mode or VGA mode.
5. Run a full system scan and delete all the files detected as W32.Gaobot.CII.
6. Reverse the changes made to the registry.
